A root canal or endodontic therapy is a treatment to repair and save a severely damaged or infected tooth. The treatment involves removing this damaged or infected area of the tooth (the pulp), then the area inside the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected completed (obturation) once this has been completed the area is then dried and sealed with a material called Gutta-percha. The tooth is then restored with a filling or a crown for protection.
